Obituary For Appa Lentini
Appa was the sweetest little guinea pig I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, let alone being able to call him my own. He was a spontaneous addition to the family, but one I will never regret. When I got my first apartment, I decided to have a guinea pig, since I have not had one since I was a child. 1 turned into 3, and 3 turned into 5. I said I was done at 5 until I saw him. He was gorgeous and I took him home crying with joy.
Ever since day 1, he had the biggest personality. He loved being loved. His favorite place to scratch was under his chin. He could sit there for hours while you scratched his chin. He would squeak when I opened the fridge or if he heard a bag crinkle. He was never shy to demand what he wanted. I didn’t know when I adopted him but he had some medical issues. We did our best with him. Vet visits and medication galore. I promised to fight with him until he let me know he was done fighting.
He had a solid year being spoiled beyond belief. He got his own Halloween costume, he got to rummage through his stocking on Christmas morning, he got kisses on Valentine’s Day, and found Easter eggs filled with treats. He traveled around Georgia, seeing all of the beauty this state has to offer. Every day we had with him was a celebration because we knew we wouldn’t have him as long as we would like.
He let us know late yesterday night that he was done fighting, so we simply enjoyed the hours we had left with him. He went knowing he was loved and cherished surrounded by his adopted siblings and all of the treats he could ever want. Until we meet again, my sweetest Appa boy. You are so missed already.
