Obituary For Axel Hager
Axel Hager passed away peacefully on September 10, 2021. Axel is survived by his human family, Avery, Barrett, Paige & Todd Hager and his canine sister & best friend Yogi Hager.
Axel was an extraordinary dog. He joined our family as a puppy and was there when Avery first went to lower school and when Barrett left for college just a few weeks ago. Axel made it his mission to stay around until he could see them both off to college and into adulthood. He grew up with Avery and Barrett and was a constant source of joy and comfort as each of them navigated their way through childhood. Axel loved his life and loved being a part of our family.
Axel was well taken care of and had many great experiences in the 14 ½ years since he traveled from South Dakota to join our family. He enjoyed bacon flavored Beggin Strips and any type of human food that “accidently” fell from our plates at dinner. Axel loved going hiking without a leash along the Chattahoochee River, riding in golf carts at Blalock Lakes and sitting around the firepit at our house at night. Most of all he loved spending time with his human sisters Avery and Barrett.
For a little lap dog, Axel was unique. Axel was a Coton De Tulear, but true to his name, he had no desire to look like a show dog. He liked to get muddy and much preferred having his hair cut unprofessionally by Paige at home. Axel was extremely cute, but he was a mess. He loved to play with his German Shepherd sister Yogi and would even fetch balls now and then. Axel was fearless. When he needed to, Axel would scare away much bigger dogs if they were not being nice to his sister Yogi.
Axel loved his family. He was a great companion and always had a way of making you feel better if you were down. Axel was a friendly dog that was great at making human friends. There has never been, nor will there ever be, a dog more adept at sneaking his way onto a complete stranger’s lap. Although Axel never hesitated to get comfortable with anyone, his all-time favorite laps were the ones he found at home. He will be sorely missed by his family and by the hundreds of friends he has made over the years.
Axel lived a good life, and he was a darned good dog. Rest in Peace Axel
