Obituary For Bailey Berghuis

In 2009, I found Bailey at a Petsmart adoption event. He came home with me that day. He acquired 2 sisters and we were a family. He was so smart and learned things i didn't even know he knew. Over the next few years, they passed away from cancer leaving Bailey as an only child. We loved each other immensely..his little licks were special kisses to me. He aged gracefully and even with a heart murmur, he just kept enjoying his trips to the Varsity for a naked dog, the parks for special smells and just walking the neighborhood. The older he got, the more the walks were curtailed and I knew eventually he would leave me, just “not today”.

After he crossed the bridge, my heart was just broken and I'm not sure what to do without him. I see him everywhere in the house and night time is especially hard. My eyes leak when I see his things and I'd give everything to have him back. I'm just thankful for the best 16 years of my life.

"Wait for me at the Bridge, Bailey..", I love you. Mom.

Hi there. You don't know me but I do subscribe to the obituaries here to see the stories people share about their pets who have crossed over Rainbow Bridge (https://www.rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm). So sorry for your loss of Bailey. Thank you so much for sharing some of his amazing story. I can see he meant the world to you and had a tremendous impact on your life. And what a handsome little boy 😊. Our pets bring so much unconditional love and joy to our lives. They truly are family members who we create and share memories with. Keep those with you and he will live on in your heart forever. RIP Bailey.
