Memorial Tribute for Charlotte Belle Blackshire

Charlotte Belle wasn’t just a dog — she was a presence. The kind that filled a room before she even walked into it, carried on four paws and wrapped in soft white fur with those signature brown markings that made her unmistakably her. She came to us as a rescue, but it didn’t take long to realize we were the ones being saved. Charlotte had a way of loving that felt intentional. She chose her people — her mom, her human brothers, her Poppy and Bee Bee — and once you were hers, you were claimed for life. She was loyal in the quiet ways and the loud ones too… the way she stayed close, the way she watched, the way she made sure no one ever felt alone for long. And yes — she may very well hold the unofficial title for the most photographed beagle-retriever mix in history. Camera-ready at all times, whether she was striking a pose or just existing in her natural diva energy, Charlotte understood something most of us spend a lifetime learning: how to be completely, unapologetically yourself. She shared in her family’s spotlight moments, too. With a family featured on screen, on TV, on the radio, and in stories all across the internet, our Binxy-baby received her moment in the sun in the independent film “Rescued” in 2021. —Charlotte had her own quiet moment in that glow. Not because she needed attention, but because she belonged there. She was part of the story. Always. She will always be the most bougie dog, who could spot a Starbucks sign at 50 paces and would judge you for walking in the house with your own “Starbies,” and no pupcup for her. But beyond the photos, beyond the features, beyond any moment in the sun… Charlotte Belle’s greatest role was the one she played every single day. Companion. Protector. Comfort. Joy. The champion of the most epic game of “got your nose,” don’t believe us? Just ask Fozzie Bear. She knew how to gain a special place in your heart, all the while sticking her tongue out or winking at you on cue. She was the heartbeat at our feet. The gentle nudge when we needed it most. The reminder that love doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful. There will never be another Charlotte Belle — and that’s exactly what makes her unforgettable. She wasn’t just the best rescue dog a family could ask for. She was our Charlotte Belle, our Char-Char Binx, our Binxy Baby, our forever furbaby with wings. Tell Poppy we said hey, and make sure he gives you all the belly rubs worthy of our favorite person disguised as a white-and-brown furbaby.

There was no way to ever prepare for this day, but we had to make the difficult decision to tell our sweet Charlotte Belle to meet Poppy, who would be waiting for her on the rainbow bridge. Charlotte Belle wasn't just a dog — she was a presence. The kind that filled a room before she even walked into it, carried on four paws and wrapped in soft white fur with those signature brown markings that made her unmistakably her. On Dec. 13th, 2014, she came to us as a rescue, but it didn't take long to realize we were the ones being saved. Charlotte had a way of loving that felt intentional. She chose her people — her mom, her human brothers, her Poppy and Bee Bee— and once you were hers, you were claimed for life. She was loyal in the quiet ways and the loud ones too... the way she stayed close, the way she watched, the way she made sure no one ever felt alone for long.
