Obituary For Duke Nichols

Duke was our first pet, as newly wedded adults and he was the first pet for our children. We adopted him in July 17, 2011 - his “birthday” and the shelter thought that he was “one or two.” He was an amazing dog and brought us so much joy. One of the first memories I have, after knowing Duke a whole four days, was getting to gently remove a rope toy that he had managed to swallow whole. 😳 (Don’t worry, he was totally fine). Only bought indestructible Kong toys after that little adventure. He loved to run and enjoyed his nightly bike jaunts with my husband. Duke loved his peanut butter treats and for being part Lab, he was NOT a fan of water. Whether hanging out at the house or tagging along on a trip, Duke rarely barked, but was always present and engaged. His absence is felt immensely and will be for a long time yet. The Cabarrus Animal Hospital & Paws, Whiskers, and Wags have been incredibly kind and supportive during this time. RIP Duke.

Hi...you don't know me but I do subscribe to the obituaries here to see the stories people share about their pets who have crossed over Rainbow Bridge (https://www.rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm). So sorry for your loss of Duke. I can see he meant the world to you and had a tremendous impact on your family 😊. Our pets bring so much unconditional love and joy to our lives. They truly are family members who we create and share memories with. Keep those with you and he will live on in your heart forever. RIP Duke.
