Obituary For Gracie McHenry

Gracie was our beautiful golden retriever that we got in 2012 after our hearts were broken when her predecessor golden retriever, Sebastian, crossed the rainbow bridge in 2011. She filled our lives with unconditional love, laughter, fun, and so much more. She chased lights on the floor/wall like a cat, tried to eat water that was shooting out of a hose, and chased her tail until she became dizzy and fell down. She became my constant companion in November 2021 when my husband of 25 years decided to leave our family. She slept with me in bed every night after he left, even though she never slept with me before that night - she just showed up and knew I needed her. She never left my side and was my rock during the last 2 and 3/4 years. Our hearts are broken because she died so quickly - she got a nosebleed that wouldn't stop, emergency vet to find out her platelet count was dangerously low at 6,000, and they found a massive tumor on her spleen. She never acted sick and we had no idea, despite being at the vet only 4 months before. We will miss her forever and our lives will never be the same.

Hi there. You don't know me but I do subscribe to the obituaries here to see the stories people share about their pets who have crossed over Rainbow Bridge (https://www.rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm). So sorry for your loss of Gracie. Thank you so much for sharing some of her story. I can see she meant the world to you and had a tremendous impact on your life. And what a pretty girl 😊. Our pets bring so much unconditional love and joy to our lives. They truly are family members who we create and share memories with. Keep those with you and she will live on in your heart forever. RIP Gracie.
