Obituaries

We said goodbye to our sweet Jesse last night. When I think about the last two days shock, grief, and a deep sadness come up first. Then such tender love and thankfulness arrives. Jesse meant the world to me. We dedicated six years to trying to make his life the happiest life he could have. When he was diagnosed with PCKD two years ago and almost died, every day with him became a miracle-I'm so so grateful we never took our extra time with him for granted. If you had told me six years ago that the tiniest boi I ever saw (0.5 pounds) would not have a full life, I still would have chosen him and the pain I am feeling now to have spent those beautiful years together. I've never felt so connected to an animal soul before and all of these tears and heartache have been worth it to be his mom.

He loved people and us so beautiful and gently. You could feel his love with every head bump, paw tap, and session of biscuit making (he made the best biscuits.) What a honor it was to spend six years under such unrelenting sweetness. As we sit with this overwhelming feeling of sadness, there is a feeling of luck that he was even ours in the first place. The Jesse years will always be "the good ol' days." To my sweet Jesse, the goodest boi, I had the time of my life with you.

My dad provided me with these comforting words on what may happen to our best bois and girls when they pass. I hope they bring anyone comfort who has also lost a pet.

"All that we know in our hearts tells us God is real and He presents His personality to us through His creation. His love and joy are real and don’t we feel it in the way we’ve always found companionship with our pets?

I don’t know the answer, but measure how much you loved Jesse and I believe God’s love is infinitely bigger than that. So no matter what, I believe God cares for His creation and Jesse is in good hands."
