Obituary For Karla Gray
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye for now to our beloved Chipoo, Karla, who passed away March 10th, 2025, after 13 wonderful years as a cherished member of our family. Loving, sassy, and cuddly Karla filled our hearts with warmth and endless joy and laughter to our lives.
Karla was selected by her Momma Davi from her group of siblings in Conyers, Georgia in April 2012, and from her very first day, she’s always demanded every room. Amongst all her energetic siblings, she remained to herself with the most beautiful soulful eyes and calming spirit gravitated Momma Davi to her and knew she’d be the perfect addition to our family. From then, they were inseparable. Her adventurous personality and warm snuggles were guaranteed to brighten up even the darkest of days. A constant we never knew we needed. Her comforting presence will truly be missed.
She was a small dog and a picky eater, but had major big back energy when it came to human food. Her favorite foods consist of LaLa’s curry chicken, tuna, sweet potato, watermelon, mango, peanut butter, salmon skin, applesauce, yogurt, and juicy steak.
Her favorite things included long hikes, gardening and dancing with her LaLa, keeping her cousin Kona in check, playtime with her hooman baby cousins especially when they have snacks to share with her, quality time laying under her Uncle Papi’s bed while he watched his favorite shows, being the house’s personal alarm system, hunting lizards, debating with her cousins Keyshawn and Destiny, snuggling up every chance she got, inconveniencing Momma Davi with long deep stretches to prolong leaving the house, receiving gifts from her Momma Shy, belly rubs, sunbathing, and just the simple pleasures of life. More than anything, she loved her family, and we loved her endlessly in return.
In her final days, Karla ate all her favorites, explored nature, brought joy, and happiness to the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Even though Karla’s battle with cancer got tough and her tumors worsened, she never stopped being her energetic self. She hardly ever complained, never took a day off of being the family alarm system, or just being the perfect dog she was intended to be.
Her mixture of a cute and fierce trot will forever be missed, loved, and adored by her LaLa, Momma Davi, Momma Shy, Uncle-Papi, Kona, gang of cousins and so many more from New York, Georgia, Florida, all the way to Jamaica, and London.
She was as friendly as she was sassy. As reserved as she was vocal. As playful as she was feisty. Karla’s absence leaves a hole in our hearts, but her loving spirit and quirks will remain with us always. Rest easy, sweetest girl. May your days beyond the rainbow bridge be filled with sunshine, treats, endless love, and belly rubs.
We miss you dearly, Karlita.
