Obituary For Kelso Johnson
I am writing to honor the passing of my exceptional dog, Kelso. I adopted him as “Lloyd” from Mostly Mutts Rescue at Ansley Mall Labor Day weekend of 2011. That day as I was completing his adoption paperwork, I found out that Kelso had been previously adopted and returned to Mostly Mutts before I took him to his forever home. Throughout our years together, I would think and I couldn’t imagine why anyone would return him. The only conclusion I can come to is that we were simply meant to be in each other’s lives.
Kelso was rescued from Murray County, Georgia during one of the most brutal winters in our state. He loved of the outdoors but hated the rain. He was a wonderful trail dog and occasionally up for a run when we were younger. He was remarkably loyal and didn’t care what we did as long as we were together.
He helped me navigate my young adult life. He was with me when I left Atlanta for graduate school, when I took my first job, when I got married, and when I became a mom.
His passing feels like the closing of a chapter in my life.
January 28th would have been his 12th birthday.
I had 11 years with the best dog anyone could ever hope to have.
When it rains, I find myself thinking of him.
