Obituary For Kirby McGhee
Kirby was a Bassett/Jack Russell mix adopted from Fulton County Animal Shelter on November 8, 2008. He was abandoned by his former owner, already house broken and neutered. He was already chipped when they found him, so it was discovered that he was born on January 16, 2008. I initially went to the shelter to adopt an Akita that I saw online, but when I arrived there was an "Adopted" sign on his crate. I was upset, but one of the employees asked me to look around before I left to see if there was another dog that I liked. I took her up on the suggestion and my friend and I started looking up and down the aisles.
The shelter was full! My friend said, look. This dog is barking at you. I said, All of these dogs are barking. She said, No. This one is just looking at me. She said, Come back and see what he does. I go back and Kirby starts barking at me profusely. I walked away and he just sat down and looked at my friend. He knew that she wasn't shopping. Smart! I asked to walk him. I took him for a walk outside and he was so cute and calm. I paid the $85 adoption fee and took him home.
When we got home, he ran all over the house with excitement. He ran through the legs of every chair, around every piece of furniture. He even jumped over the sofa. All the while I'm saying, OMG! What have I done? What have I done? LOL He was soooo glad to be home. Kirby was the sweetest, most loyal and protective doggie you would ever meet. I was his human and he never wanted to leave my side. I thank God for allowing me to care for such a loyal companion.
