Obituary For Lola Bear Jackson

Also known as Lolita, Lolita-Bobita. Lo-Lo, Low-ler, The White Walker

Lola was born in the foothills of the BlueRidge Mountains near Gainesville, Georgia. She was 1/2 Yorkshire Terrier and 1/2 West Highland Terrier.

My younger sister called me one day asking me if I wanted a puppy from a litter of a friends parents and she brought me Lola. I was living in Buckhead-Atlanta at the time and just getting my career off the ground but Lola went almost every where with me but it also took a village. Friends would dog sit her, my parents, my older sister...she had lots of love.

I went from being a single person to having a husband with Bella--an English Lab and two children in our lifetime together.

Lola loved to bask in the sun and frequently would fall asleep standing up. She loved the front steps of our home and the back patio of the house. One of my favorite memories of her is when the new neighbors moved in and thought she was an actual dog statue because she was so still and stoic on her step in front of the house. She was also a hunter and so when she was out front she rarely barked but in the house...she was a barking machine. Rarely did Lola roam away but she was known to be one to lay in other neighbors yards near by and also had an "emergency alert" sent out on the NextDoor platform during the pandemic...she was leisurely strolling two houses down.

On most days in the house, she loved lounging on the bean bag in our daughter's room and could be found in my office or under my husband's feet while he worked on the computer.

She earned the nickname in the last couple of months as "The White Walker" because my husband built a "wall" to keep her contained in one area in our house but she was not having any of that and found a way to bust it down and get where she was going. ;). She was so smart and I am honored to have spent her life caring for her. She gave me comfort and a reason to wake up on days that I didn't know how to take the next best step.

She loved a good snuggle and rub. She loved her Mom, Grandparents (on both sides), Aunts/Uncles, Cousins, & her little brother and sister that she so graciously tolerated.

Her Sister Dog Bella got her wings in July of 2020 and Lola didn't seem the same since.

Early in life after Lola was spade she started having urinary incontinence issues and then other issues arose that were deeper and we realized that she had diabetes. This began a journey of insulin shots twice a day for the rest of her life. She had hip dysplasia, chronic urinary tract/ear infections and skin allergies in the last year that were overwhelming & uncomfortable to keep at bay. In her last week she started having seizures and I knew I could not let her continue on this way.

Dr. Miranda Manack at Powers Ferry Animal Hospital was her end of life veterinarian who helped this Dog Mom know I had done all the things for Lola in her 13 years and 8 months of life on this earth to let her go from her pain to go over the Rainbow Bridge. I truly believe you are in your calling in life. Thank you for serving our family & Lola. What you do is so important.

Dr MG McReynolds at Transitions Home Euthanasia came to our home and immediately Lola barked at her and then loved on Dr McReynolds' face hugging her all over. It truly embodied the ball of love that she is and the love and trust she had for her people and the acceptance of Dr McReynolds was a meaningful moment for me as her owner and caregiver. Dr McReynolds was compassionate and thoughtful , her presence calmed the moment for Lola and I both. Thank you for serving our family. What you do is so important.
