Obituaries

Luna died on Friday morning October 06, 2023 at her home in Hull, GA. She was age 15.5 years. She battled against chronic IBD/suspected GI lymphoma for almost 2 years, but her body could not fight it or rebound any longer. She passed away surrounded by love from her humans, her cat-daughter CC, & cat friends. In 2009, Luna found us when we moved into the townhouse in Tallahassee, FL that she had already claimed as hers. We began caring for her and a few months later on March 23, 2009 Luna had a litter of 5 kittens (CC, Bella, Indy, Felix, & George). She was a young mother that took excellent care of her kittens. One kitten bonded strongly with Luna, thus she & her daughter CC would remain together for the entirety of Luna’s life. Luna seemed to enjoy being “The Enforcer” of cat rules to her fellow feline housemates. She had the ability to run & punch at the same time, and many an unsuspecting cat & kitten were often on the receiving end of a surprise paw punch by Luna. She was respected by her fellow felines & also tremendously loved by them. Luna had the ability to mimic the postures of raccoons, as this was learned during her time before us spent outdoors in FL with raccoons scraping for food. After Luna transitioned to the pampered indoor life with us, any time she saw a raccoon it was not welcomed by her. She greeted raccoons with great animosity & through patio doors made her perturbed feelings known to them. Luna liked rolling in catnip, playing with red balls, sleeping on cat trees, climbing into linen cabinets, & birdwatching with CC. Luna enjoying being on the couch with her humans and sleeping in their beds. She loved canned pate cat food & would command her humans to feed her with loud resonating meows. Her daily meows are already deeply missed. We loved our Mama-Luna/Luna-bear/Cat-coon/ FL scrub-cat, beloved Luna. Throughout the years, Luna was preceded in death by her cat friends Squeek, Phoebe, Zip, Turtle, & Tadpole. Luna is survived by her humans, cat-daughter CC, & cat friends. Luna was a wonderful addition to our lives, and we are so grateful that she chose us to be her human family. I love and miss you, my sweet Luna.
