Obituary For Momiji Aug
He survived so much. He had a broken canine tooth that couldn’t be capped and had to be removed, a major surgery as the jaw could get infected and subsequently need to be removed/end the dog's life (unable to eat).
He had gotten his muzzle through the fence one day and the neighbors' dogs latched onto his lip so he couldn’t pull out, and attacked him. The vet had issues stopping the bleeding to do surgery on his face. But he made it.
He got bloat, and went into the ivy patch in the backyard to go die in peace- of which we wouldn’t let him. He survived the emergency surgery, and recovered quickly, and was his happy self the whole time- even when we had to help him walk with a sling and hold his legs so he could go to the bathroom, he tried his hardest to get back to normal as fast as possible with a smile on his face.
Almost 6 months to the day later, he was internally bleeding from a tumor on his spleen (and once again went into the ivy to die). He survived the emergency splenectomy surgery and needed a blood transfusion due to the amount of blood loss from the tumor. When that tumor came back positive for cancer, Momiji then braved the 6 months of chemo. He was a happy pup the whole time, and didn’t experience the side effects of nausea, loss of appetite, or depression. He kept on keeping on to the best of his ability. The hardest part was simply finding a way to get him to take his meds.
He was such a trooper, and survived all odds.
Everyone who met Momiji loved him, and he won over the hearts of people who didn’t like dogs. People pined for his affection, hoping he’d let them pet him. He was silly, and goofy, and loved to play tug. He was well behaved and the gentlest of souls. Everytime he looked at me my heart would swell with love. He was my baby.
12 years, 10 months, 22 days with us. 13 years alive.
I miss him. I love him. My sweet baby angel. My Bubbeleh. My Bubby. The Momijinator. Momijisaurus Rex. Momijipants. My baby. Momiji.
