Obituary For Onyx Armeni
When we met Onyx’s original owner, we promised we would give him the best life money could buy, all the love in the world, and to keep his original name.
And that’s exactly what we did.
Onyx was rescued from Lifeline Fulton County Animal Shelter on March 8, 2018. We went looking for a Bichon-Maltese looking dog and came out with the scruffiest dog they had. Onyx was heart worm positive and had multiple other ailments until finally in July 2018, he was ready to conquer the world.
Onyx worked from home like most dogs by watching the window for any deliveries that would come or sirens to howl at, which he took seriously to the very end. He loved car rides with his parents, swimming at Mason Mill in Decatur, and chasing friends at Brookhaven Dog Park. However, his favorite activity was going to the farm to see his grandparents. He would get to play with his cousins, “supervise” his dad doing farm tasks, and chasing the tractor while his grandfather was just trying to mow the field.
Over 3 years ago, we decided if we are going to get a dog, it had to be a senior because they are always the last ones left. We knew this moment would come, however, this was too soon.
In January 2020, Onyx was diagnosed with Canine Oral Melanoma. He started radiation 30 days later, however we knew it would give us one great year. On January 20th, 2021, he was showing signs and symptoms that the cancer unfortunately spread to his lymph-nodes. On January 23rd, 2021, at 2:45 AM, after an extremely long week of fighting this fight, he passed away with his parents, aunt, and brother by his side at BluePearl Sandy Springs.
Onyx was preceded in death by his sister Jade. Survivors include loving parents Dominic & Catherine Armeni; annoying brother, Clay Armeni; unconditionally loving aunt Mary Charles Smith; grandparents who spoiled him rotten: John & Dawn Armeni, Charles Smith, and Sam & Troy Patton; uncles who gave him good scratches: Ben Armeni & Joseph Armeni; cousins & friends he chased even in his dreams: Red, Oliver, Oscar, Beau, Hamilton, Bunny, and Harambe.
In lieu of funeral arrangements due to COVID-19, we ask that you please donate to Lifeline Animal shelter, adopt don’t shop, and give a senior another chance.
