Obituary For Paul Gault
Sweet baby Paul was picked up as a stray by Dekalb County in Oct 2013. He was severely underweight and had injuries. A few weeks later he was pulled by Forgotten Paws dog rescue out of Acworth and placed in a foster home. He recovered and gained weight and was moved into boarding the spring of 2014. In June 2014 Paul became an immediate foster fail with his mommy, Maureen. Paul had the sweetest, most trusting face and the gentlest eyes. He loved every person he ever met. He wanted to sit on your lap and give you lots of kisses and snuggle all day long. He loved his rope toys and bones. He didn't much understand how to play fetch; the chase was fun but bringing the ball back was a bit confusing. He also adored all creatures. Paul spent several days at Blue Pearl in 2019 recovering from his attempt to befriend a copperhead: he led with his tongue at all times. Unfortunately he did not learn his lesson and tried to play soccer ball with a king snake in 2021. Thankfully that encounter did not end in a bite as his daddy, Matt, came to the rescue. Paul knew how to sit and shake and used these tricks, along with his puppy-dog eyes, to try and snag a bit of your meal. There wasn't a food created that he didn't want to try; one time he ate a piece of raw kale that had dropped from the counter. He loved napping in the sunlight, furry blankets, and pillow forts. He slept with his humans every night, usually burrowed under the covers. He loved his fur-sister Annabelle. The Christmas tree was his indoor bathroom, much to his parents' dismay. At the end of his walks, he would take the handle of his leash in his mouth and walk himself home. Sometimes the end of the walk, according to Paul, wasn't very far into the walk and he would find a comfy flower bed to lay down in and wait for someone to carry his 70-pound behind home. Paul's paws smelled like Fritos and his chest had the sweetest, most unique scent and was so soft. Paul charmed every person he ever encountered and was loved by many many people. His passing leaves an enormous hole in many lives and we will love him forever.
