She came into our lives in July 2016 from Lifeline’s DeKalb Project at the age of two, her name was Aster. As we got to know her, it was apparent that this Alpha dog’s more fitting name was “Rihanna”. She passed today, October 28, 2022. She was about 8 years old. She leaves to miss her, her grandma (me), ma, best buddy and two close fur friends (cats) with whom she lived. Her passing was sudden and unexpected. One of her amazing tricks was to jump straight in the air with all 4 paws off the ground; she would land in her best buddy’s arms. She liked to roll in the grass in the sun, go for long walks and run but always came back when she had enough fun.

I regret that I fussed at her the last few weeks because she would take my pillows, blankets and clothes off my bed and make them her own when I left the house. I now realize she was just trying to be closer to me when I was not at home. The hardest part of having a four-legged family member is saying good-bye until we meet at the rainbow bridge. Rihanna, go play with the angels until we meet again; I miss you already.
