Obituary For Fillmore Antman

Fillmore was born 85% basset hound in 2009-ish before (probably) following his nose off on a great adventure that landed him in the shelter. He was adopted in 2011 and very quickly embraced his life of leisure, unbothered by the happenings around him, only ever barking at the dog park, at UPS trucks, and at neighborhood cats on the back patio. He never missed an opportunity for food or to be petted and loved on, unless it required him to get up off his couch, then you could come to him because he was unlikely to move. He was beloved of his community, wanting pets and belly rubs from everyone, and everyone wanting to provide them. At the dog park he never missed an opportunity to referee, and due to his short legs became master of the strategic interception, unless he had sniffed out a pocket with treats, at which point he would persist with the sad-eyes until this poor, food- and affection-starved creature received both treats and more pets. He was the chillest dog multiple in-home technicians had ever met. The only great tragedy in his life was when the small human grew up enough that they were able to eat without spilling food on the floor. Now, our home feels empty without him, but our hearts are fuller for having brought him into our lives. May he now run without pain, eat until his heart’s content, and get all the pets and belly rubs he could possibly desire.
Fillmore wasn’t just a good dog, he was the best dog.
