Obituary For Tucker Collins
01/02/11 - 07/16/24
Tucker came into my life when I was 18 and just starting college. He was my rock, my joy, and my soul. With so many life changes that happened in the 13 years, he was my constant. He knew when I was down and would pick me up with his smile and head bumps.
Tucker’s favorite past times were to play fetch (after a lot of lessons of teaching him to bring the ball back) and cuddle. He was my napping buddy and always ready to cuddle. He loved to watch TV and his favorite thing to watch was Gilmore Girls along with the occasional Animal Planet.
His super power was befriending dogs that didn’t like any other dogs. He also taught many puppies in his life on what it meant to be a great dog. His younger sister, Ritzy, followed him around everywhere. Learning as she went and he quickly became her favorite dog in the world. If she ever was separated from him while we took family walks, she would stop in her tracks until she saw him again. She misses her brother dearly, and waits with a wagging tail to see him again.
He traveled to many places with us, the beach and the mountains. He absolutely loved barking and attacking the waves as they rolled on the shore. No one was a stranger to him as everyone would love on him and he thanked them with a high five. He went with me everywhere, shopping, to get coffee, or a festival. Many humans in my life quickly came to love and adore him.
Tucker was special and a perfect companion. He not only brought me joy, but comfort and protection. With him around, I felt safe. It was almost instinctual that if something didn’t feel right, he put himself in between me and the situation.
He is still loved by so many and is deeply missed by me and his dad. We miss your happy bounces when it is time to go outside or for a walk, the pitter patter of your grinch paws, your hot stinky breath in our face while we eat, the way your fur blew in the wind and how regal you looked standing in the sun. We miss you squeaking your toys and almost immediately pulling the stuffing out. We miss taking you to the river and seeing pure bliss on your face as you splashed in the water and ran with the pack of dogs you’d befriend. We miss coming home to you, knowing as soon as we open the door you’re there ready to great us with such excitement. That we may have been gone for 30 minutes, but for you it seemed like days. We will miss taking you on trips and letting you see the world. We miss you everyday.
Tucker is with many of his friends now that have passed over the rainbow bridge before him. I’m sure his blood related brother, Carson who I adopted first but died shortly after of parvo, was the first to greet him. Anxiously waiting to hear what life was like with his family. Waiting to see him again are his mom, Ashley, his dad, Dre, his doggie sister, Ritzy, and his cat brother Yuki, along with many others.
Thank you for the honor of being your human. I hope you’re frolicking in a field of strawberries munching on them as you go. I love you my sweet boy.
